Amelia is a zoologist, specializing in animal behaviour. As well as her degree in Zoology from The University of Sheffield, Amelia holds MSc degrees in Clinical Animal Behaviour from The University of Lincoln, and Animal Behaviour and Welfare from Queen's University, Belfast. Amelia specializes in using an integrative, zoosemiotic (communication and signalling) approach to resolving animal behaviour issues, rather than focusing on a training-based approach. However, she is qualified and experienced in using positive, reward-based animal training methods and holds a 'Puppy Life Skills' trainer certificate from The University of Lincoln, where she also worked as puppy class assistant.
Amelia has experience working with a variety of animals species, including horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, and other exotics. She has worked in various settings, including university animal units, dog training classes, riding schools, and animal rescue centres. As well as her academic qualifications, she also holds vocational qualifications in kennel and cattery management, and in horse care/equitation. Amelia has shared her home with numerous animals over the years, including, currently, her greyhound Jemima.
